Five reasons to move to Kent

Kent’s proximity to London, as well as the vast countryside and numerous beaches, make it a highly desirable place to relocate!

Kent has it all – Nearly 350 kilometres of serene coastline, pretty villages, and bustling towns and cities. Larger towns of Deal and Dover, as well as Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Margate from the district of Thanet and the city of Canterbury offer plenty to enjoy, from their shops, entertainment, hospitality venues and culture.

1) The Coast & Countryside
Kent has a great variety to offer for any nature lovers looking for a new home. 350 miles of coastline with some of the prettiest seaside destinations in the whole of the UK from hustling beach towns and cities with entertainment and arcades to the world-famous White Cliffs of Dover. Kent coastlines also have many countryside walks following the scenery that earned Kent its famous nickname as the ‘Garden of England’.

2) Great Transport Links
It may be interesting to know that one of Kent’s biggest appeals is how well-connected it is to London and other UK cities and towns. With links which can be as quick as 40 mins to the heart of London. Thanet Parkway, the new station just west of Cliffsend, will offer another high-speed connection to London St Pancras. Kent can be a perfect base for anyone working in London with these ideal commuting times. It doesn’t stop there, the M20 and M25 open up Kent to other parts of the UK for drivers. Head to the coast, Dover offers the ferry or Folkestone for the Eurotunnel where you can be in France in no time. Perfect for holidays without the lengthy, painful journey.

3) Historical Charm
From Romans to pilgrims, Kent is full of history with castles and the first cathedral in the UK. Here are some of our favourite spots: Canterbury Cathedral with its eye-catching architecture and stained glass windows. Dreamland is the vintage amusement park in Margate that’s over a century old and home to the oldest wooden rollercoaster in the UK, and the Shepherd Neame Brewery in Faversham has been crafting some of the UK’s best-loved pints for over three centuries. Kent is filled with history for all to enjoy!

4) Grammar Schools
A great selection of primary and secondary schools are in Kent with some of the best in the country. Kent also has the famous Kent Test, sending children to both private and state, including Tonbridge School, Benenden and King schools. Along with the options of sports or performing arts schools, Kent offers a wide range of different schools to fit every child’s needs. If children’s education is important to you, Kent is a great option.

5) Art & Culture
There are plenty of lively festivities and week-long celebrations that are perfect for families or couples who want to chill, eat, and be merry together! Here are some of our favourites: Canterbury’s Medieval Pageant and Family Trail taking you back in time with lots of learning for all, Broadstairs Folk Week for lots of dancing, and folk culture and Whistable Boat Week and Oyster Festival for historic oyster yawls, boatyard fun, musical entertainment and family workshops. You may have thought it was all rain in the UK, however in the south of England there are always above-average temperatures and a greater than average number of sunny days. Kent might be the place for you if you enjoy sunny days on the beach!
