Charity Quiz Night

Guildcrest Estates held their first quiz night on behalf of Oasis, a charity that works alongside those living through and escaping from domestic abuse, on October 2nd at The Northwood Club in Ramsgate, Kent.

The evening started off with the Guildcrest ladies dressing the tables with plates of sweet and savoury nibbles, pens and keyrings along with information on the invaluable work Oasis provide.

The club began to fill with friends, family, regulars and supporters of Oasis. Some of the Guildcrest ladies assisted the Quiz Master with the handing out of quiz papers and selling of raffle tickets, while others set up the display of raffle prizes.

After the chance for friends to catch up and purchase drinks from the lovely staff at the bar, it was time for the main event. A total 70 people making up 17 teams, including one team from Oasis and eight teams from Guildcrest, took their seats ready to begin.  The quiz was hosted by the amazing Brett Bone, who hosts quizzes for charities at various venues across Thanet every week. Brett, who is well loved for his kind heart, generous nature, humour and interesting taste in shirts, announced the rules and categories and settled us all down to begin. After several rounds of challenging questions, covering clothing, pot luck and the letter K, it was time for everyone to have a break and the chance to buy refreshments while music in the background was supplied by local singer/songwriter, Jack Wilkinson.

After a break, it was time for the raffle. The Guildcrest ladies had supplied over 35 fabulous prizes themselves, which included a choice of champagne, prosecco and beer, teddies, smellies and  chocolates along with very kind donations of two sets of family tickets from The Wonderworks and a hamper from Asda. Tickets sales for the raffle alone brought in £162.00!!

Everyone took their seats ready for the next 3 rounds of brain teasing questions, with categories covering Name the Artist, Pot Luck and Kent.

With answer sheets swapped and correct answers counted up, it was time to announce the scores, the winning team and the total money raised. Through entry and raffle ticket sales, the evening raised an incredible total of £512.40!!! The money was handed to a representative from Oasis who gave a talk explaining ways that Oasis support people in desperate need of help.

Guildcrest Estates would like to thank Brett Bone, the owners and staff at The Northwood Club, and all those that attended, or supported the evening for making it such a huge success.
